“It does not contain tobacco but nicotine. The smoker gets a high from these vapours that they get by smoking a cigarette,” Nadda said.
One in 10 deaths around the world is caused by tobacco. Electronic cigarettes (ECs) have been used as an alternative to smoking to reduce the harm caused by carcinogen and toxins produced from tobacco.
Public Health England’s 2015 report says “The current best estimate is that e-cigarette use is around 95% less harmful to health than smoking e-cigarettes release negligible levels of nicotine into ambient air with no identified health risks to bystanders.”
